Gas permeable (or rgps - for rigid gas permeables) are one of the oldest and most time-tested type of contact lenses on the market. They are slightly smaller and more rigid than soft contact lenses, and made out of a silicon that allows oxygen to pass through to the eye. Gas permeable lenses are often prescribed for people with presbyopia, astigmatism, or keratoconus.
